West Coast Vancouver Island - 2013

Port Hardy - Quatsino Sound - Kyuquot Sound - Nootka Sound - Tofino - layoquot Sound - Barkely Sound - Victoria - Olympia

August 04, 2013: After an excellent (but rather foggy and cloudy) week in the Broken Islands, in Barkley Sound, we are visiting the small fishing/surfing town of Ucluelet.  Tomorrow (August 5th) we plan to head east along the Strait of Juan de Fuca and so will, rather sadly, be leaving the west coast of Vancouver Island.   We have had an amazing time here but the foggy mornings (and sometime... » read more

Welcome to my travels.... (how hard can it be?)

Welcome to my travels.... (how hard can it be?)

Starting again from La palma (Canary Islands). This time in another yacht (Tegan - a Vancouver 27) with a guy I met in Spain - John Zammitt

February 16, 2013: Boy is it hot here… Wifi is expensive and not very reliable so I shall keep this brief and write it up properly when we get to the Caribbean – hopefully..The sail here was great with no real problems other than landing a massive fish.. Mahi Mahi I am told – anyway it was 30lbs of lean mean fighting machine and John landed it after an epic battle.   Damn thing nearly ... » read more

Leanne & Pete's North Channel Trip

August 2013 - Penetanguishene - Lost Bay - Brown Bay - Spider Bay - Regatta Bay (Franklin Island) - Pointe au Baril - Killarney - Byng Inlet - Killbear - Penetang.

August 08, 2013: The wind was on our nose so we motored all the way to Spider Bay to join Kevin and Fiona. The cruise is so pretty throughout the Massassauga Park … stunning cottages and landscape. Bailey and I couldn’t resist sitting on deck to take another round of photos of the Hitchhiking Inukshuk at Indian Harbour  — k, well, I took the photos while Bailey directed. One of these time... » read more

Exploring Coastal WA and BC 2013

Exploring Coastal WA and BC 2013

Puget Sound - San Juan Islands - Strait of Georgia - Vancouver Island - and maybe the Queen Charlotte Islands and points further north

April 15, 2013:  It is raining again, we are still in West Bay Marina, Randall is nursing a very sore back muscle, and there has been a snafu over our new life-lines…but otherwise we are steadily progressing towards casting-off the dock lines.  Staying a little longer in Olympia than we had originally planned, it has been a treat to watch the naked trees don their mantles of bright green and t... » read more

Jonathan Livingston in 2013

Jonathan Livingston in 2013

Sailing around the Canary Islands

March 17, 2013: It took until 10th March to un-stick ourselves from Las Palmas Gran Canaria and sail overnight to Tenerife. The principle as ever was to leave and arrive in daylight. With the wind and waves out of the North, I motored J-L up past La Isleta, too lazy to tack for several hours against the current, before turning west and setting main and genoa. It proved to be a beautiful fast sail. I needed to ... » read more

Weer Thuis

Weer Thuis

» read more

IN THE MED

We plan to sail from Southern Spain to the Balearics, then on to Sardinia, maybe Corsica, then Scicily, Malta and Greece. Our plans are not cast in stone and may well change as ...

August 01, 2012: It’s a windy day and an opportunity to catch up with the blog as we are disinclined to go ashore. It’s been unsettled weather during June and July, some days have been 38 deg. C., hot and sunny, others overcast and barely making the high 20’s. There hasn’t been much rain though, which is a mixed blessing for the islands. We spent quite some time in Majorca before flying back to England for Ross... » read more

Eastcoast rivers

Zondag wilden we v... » read more
