After a morning swim, we motored across to Marti Marina to fuel up and then headed out to Selimiye, just 6 nmiles around the coast. This is a first for us as we have never actually been in Selimiye by boat, only by car last year with Trevor and Paula. We have had a lot of good reports about the Aurora Restaurant pontoon and made our way there. We moored bows to the wooden jetty with a lazy line to the stern welcomed in by a loud, full of himself, Turkish man called Hussein. We went for a walk and had lunch of the local ‘gozleme’ in a café – no beer much to Brian’s disgust! We relaxed by the restaurant on the sun loungers reading and swimming and in the evening had a meal which turned out to be a bit of a disaster. Barbara, Brian and myself had the speciality ‘cheesy beef’ which was thin strips of fillet wrapped around mozerella cheese on skewers and then BBQ’d – delicious but not very warm. Dave however chose Lamb casserole which arrived cold and swimming in oil – he did not eat it and complained afterwards – obviously we did not pay for his meal. All in all, I found the Aurora very over rated and expensive.
