Another beautiful hot sunny day.  The electrician guys could not find any obvious fault with the autopilot and said it must be the course computer – expensive to replace 2,500 euros but he had an old second hand one that he could fit for 400 euros.  We know we can get this cheaper in the UK so we decided to go ahead and see if this unit worked, if it didn’t then obviously it could not be the course computer.  They fitted it and it worked so one problem solved, we will take the course computer home with us and try and get it fixed at Rowlands in Pwhelli.  Next problem the radio – they checked everything, went up the mast to check the antenna and wiring at the top – all ok.  They said it must be the radio unit and they would take it to the Ray Marine Service office in Izmir tomorrow to see if they could check it and fix it and if it was the crystal that had gone in the radio, then it would be kaput.  He said that he could get us a Turkish radio at a cost of 300 TL to get us a temporary fix.  The new starter battery was 300 TL and Brian installed this himself.

The EMYR boats arrived in the afternoon, all 7 of them, and Dave and Kath invited us to join them in a ‘pot luck’ meal in the evening around the BBQ area with the rest of the EMYR crews.
