Dreams and Beginnings

December 20, 2011

All journeys begin somewhere, and ours begins, as many do, with a dream. For me this dream started many MANY years ago, when I built a little wooden, three person, sail boat.

My sailing adventures continued when at the tender age of eleven I joined the crew of a racing mono hull and cut my teeth my first night out on the North sea in an epic storm. Rather than deter me from sailing I was thrilled and having the time of my life.

Fast forward many years to the present, and factor in all the years of dutiful toil in the rat race of life. All those years took me from where I wanted to be, on the sea. Not that I was ever far from it, and made part of my living under the water as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer for years.

But the sea kept calling to me and the dream of sailing the oceans of the world grew stronger. I have found others who share my dreams of adventure, and Poisidon willing, we will take to the sea upon a 60’ Catamaran named Suncat with our tender, Mouse.

Ours is yet a dream, for our feet are still mired in mud as we struggle with all it takes to build our dream. The boat we want to use is half done, but will take at least another year to complete. Our knowledge, though never complete, may take even longer to build to the point where we are ready to voyage the world. These blogs will chronical our voyages, starting from the beginning.

We hope you will share them with us.

There’s nothing like the call of the open sea, always be safe

Thanks for the comment, Island_getaway, safety comes first, always. My rules are, take the slow and sure way, never be in a hurry, that opens the door to a Darwin award.
