What is life like on a Gulet?
December 01, 2011
In crewed Yacht Charters; everyday the yachts normally visit two or three bays and there would be a maximum 4 hours sailing per day. The last stop in the day will be the place to stay for the night. It is necessary for the yacht to visit a harbour every three or four days to enable us taking on water and fresh provisions. These harbours will be in little fishing villages and sometimes in small towns. Traditional wooden gulets usually cruise with engine, but gulet set sail if the wind direction fits to the rotation and is strong enough.
Food & Drink
For the private gulet charters, the food on board can be organized by our company. The menu would be including the service of full breakfast, four course lunch, afternoon tea or coffe service with cake and cookies and five course dinner. However, the passengers on board can buy their own food stocks. In both ways our cook on board will cook and serve. The menu is prepared mainly on the famous traditional Turkish Cusine. When you have any other special requests (communal requests – religious preferences – health oriented) it can be organized with a notice in advance.
There are soft drinks, local and imported alcoholic beverages in the bar of the yachts. If you have a special request of a drink we may not have at the bar, please inform us in advance. In bareboat charters you may easily find restaurants in little fishing villages where you can eat fresh fish and local meals. In cabin charters the price given in our price list include the full board accomodation on board and we use fixed weekly standart menu for these kind of cruises.
Activities
Most of our traditional gulets are equipped with windsurf, dingy with outboard engine, fishing and snorkeling equipment.
There are ample possibilities of different water sports such as jet-skiing, water-skiing, banana riding at modarate prices organised by special water sports groups at different bays visited. Up on request we can arrange jet skiing, water skiing equipment to hire during your charter. Once the boat is moored the clients can visit the archaeological ruins, having a little walk in to the pine forests and explore the beautiful coastline. Reading your book and having a siesta under the tent with a breeze may be another option. Of course, sea lovers would enjoy swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. In gulet charters you can join to land excursions to the nearby local towns, ancient sites, natural attractions. For instance in Bodrum-Gökova-Bodrum programme, you can join Marmaris tour or in Marmaris-Fethiye-Marmaris programme you may visit Caunos. As in Antalya – Kaş – Antalya programme you will find the opportunity to visit Myra ancient city. We also organize shopping tours to local handicraft centres or bazaars to make you see the extensive carpet, leather, jewellery, textile products or gift items of Turkey.
