Sagiada morning

October 22, 2011

Up early and out with the camera as the lagoons at Sagiada harbour rarely fail to provide something new, and even if they do fail the birdlife is usually worth a snap or two.

A white heron was fishing in the lagoon (It wasn’t until I got home that I realised that I had actually caught a picture of it just after it had caught a fair sized fish!)

The flotilla engineers were working on Kanoni’s engine which was now refusing to start so I could slip away for another prowl with the camera.

Anyone who hasn’t been into Sagiada will find the harbour entrance strange but at least the two lamp-posts are up again either side of the entrance.

Look at the two lamps carefully they both have two lamps, but one has one red bulb and one white and the other has a green and a white.,,

Yes the lamp-posts provide the port and starboard lights for the entrance!

Well they got the engine working eventually but the the engineers’ instructions were “Don’t stop it until you are tied up…”.

The departure was a little chaotic as there were boats parked on both sides of the harbour. It would have been better for everbody if only one boat had been manouvering at once, as two or three trying to pull out at the same time in a harbour where the anchors were overlapping was sure to end up with boats getting each others way…
