S.V. Resolution: Day 18 - Flying downwind

June 06, 2012

A new Post “Day 18 – Flying downwind” was written on the June 6, 2012 at 11:25 am on “S.V. Resolution”.

I was playing with the sails, trying to get better downwind

performance from the boat and found a new arrangement that allows me

to point much further downwind with the same speed. The boat rolls

more as each wave passes, but this will allow me to arrive Friday

morning, so I’ll manage the rolling for a few hours.

I’m going to have some repairs when I get into Hilo, but fortunately,

nothing other than a few extra screws here and there.

Current Position:

Course: 265 at 6 kt

235 to go, 131 nm progress

Wind: 20 kt from 85 deg, cloudy
