A new Post “Day 16 – Under 500 miles to go” was written on the June 4, 2012 at 11:39 am on “S.V. Resolution”.

It is very strange feeling so close to land while still so far away.

I’m trying to get into Hilo before customs close on Friday afternoon.

I need to cover 117 nm made good each day to get there. Been having

good wind and have stayed on a starboard tack, taking me 70 miles from

the rhumb line, but going in mostly the right direction. I am banking

on the winds shifting to near 90 degrees, allowing me to avoid a port

tack until the winds are favorable for it. If the winds don’t shift,

it will be difficult to keep my distance above the mark.

Other than that, not much more to report. I’ve ate all the interesting

food, now living off rice, pasta, and canned fruits and vegetables.

Looking forward to seeing land.
