S.V. Resolution: Day 14 - Two weeks at sea
June 01, 2012
A new Post “Day 14 – Two weeks at sea” was written on the June 1, 2012 at 11:41 am on “S.V. Resolution”.
The last time I was on land was 2 weeks ago this evening. I am feeling
a little landsick, the boat, though comfortable as it is, is only so
large. I want to get out and stretch my legs, talk to people, do
something. Fortunately, the distance to destination on my display is
getting closer and closer. I am really into the routine of things and
the days are passing by more quickly.
More squalls last night. My high wind alarm went off at 2 am; the wind
had increased from 14 knots to 25 knots in a few seconds, and before I
could get outside, it was at 32 knots. The boat was handling it,
alternatively hitting 7.5 knots in the water, then the rudder hard
over to keep the boat on track. I loosed the sheets to let the sails
luff through the worst of it. It was also pouring rain, the strongest
rain I’ve seen on the trip. I came back in the boat soaked head to
toe, grabbed a towel and a cup of tea.
Current Position:
Course: 265 at 6 kt
862 nm to go, 132 nm progress
Wind: 20 kt from 60 deg, sunny!
