Golf du Lion crossing

July 28, 2011

After 26 hour crossing across the Gulf Du Lion we have arrived safely in Span in Port Roses. It has been adventurous to say the list. Have spotted a dolphin, followed by the shark and a sleeping whale (ask Tom what it means). The phosphorescent lit our way as we sailed through the night towards the Spanish border. It was a real adventure from day one and the skipper was amazing, not only he sailed the boat through the night he also managed to make an a la gourmet meal for the crew.

Route info:

The weather showed calms until 1am on Wednesday, when 15-20 mph winds from NW would help drive us SW towards Spain.. We sailed along the French coast from Bormes until we reached Marseille, then headed SW on 252 degrees, with the wind pushing us further south to reach the cap at 1pm on Wednesday. The weather was mostly as predicted, although the sea state did rise from 10am, with gusts.  We reefed the main and sailed through until reaching Roses and a well earned beer and rest.. Dinner was provided by Zarina who managed to get into the fish auction and then bargain with the local fisherman..

Thursday was spent on the beach!
