We reach the crossroads!

July 16, 2011

Alison and I sailed overnight from Ponta Delgada to Horta, one of the most visted sailing ports on the planet.  Apart from some motoring in the wind shadows of Sao Miguel and Pico, we sailed all the way in 10-15 knots of breeze, and enjoyed it greatly.

Numerous pods of dolphins came to help us on our way, so we took the chance to have yet another go at videoing them, and have posted the result on this blog.  Let us know what you think.

Tthe volcano on Pico is, at just over 7,000 feet, the highest mountain on Portugal, and is usually shrouded in cloud, but we were lucky enough to photograph it during a few moments when it was exposed.

Great video with a steady hand and voice bringing back wonderful memories. Also a marvellous shot of the volcano on Pico, what lucky fellows you are. I’m now back and relaxing in the Fatherland after a lovely stay in the gorgeous city of Oporto. Thanks again and continued happy sailing and hols in the Azores.
