Left Auckland Bayswater marina at 10 am – winds were SSW and 15 to 20 knots so it was very nice sail past Devenport and Rangitoto to Waiheke and finally Oneroa. It was just a short stage for our first day – we moored already at 3 pm having sailed 17.8 n miles.

For today we planned to reach Port Fitzroy Harbour ond the Great barrier Island, so we left Oneroa already at 0700h.
The SW winds where constant 15-20 – perfect for heading to the Great Barrier Island.
From Oneroa to Great Barrier Island – we sailed a total distance of nearly 43 n-miles in about 9 hours. It was 1630 so we had plenty of time for fishing. But unfortunaetly we only caught a couple of small snapper….. well, we had dinner in at the Boat Club Tavern – really can recommend that!!!
Port Fitzroy is an amazing natural harbour with a huge choice of unspoilt anchorages around.
