The forecast for today is rain and thunder and lightening with a south easterly wind. The wind started at 7 a.m. and blew us towards the beach where the depth below us was 0.2 metres which was OK but if the anchor dragged we would end up on the beach. Brian made the executive decision to go into the harbor around late morning after we had seen lots of boats leave and went stern to the quay on the left side. We had lunch and the sky was beginning to turn grey and the wind picking up to 18 knots. Lots of boats came into the harbor and it soon became full, the Sun Sail flotilla had to raft four boats out against two of their boats. The rain came at 2 p.m in bucket loads along with hail stones the size of marbles, it just sounded like somebody was throwing stones at the boat with a good dose of thunder and lightening. It was amazing to watch and we were so glad we had decided to come into the harbor. It lasted about two hours and returned again at 9 in the evening taking out all the electricity and putting the restaurants in darkness – time for bed me thinks!
