Ken and Katie's voyages aboard Sand Dollar
Arrival Kota Kinabalu

12/20/2010 0800 anchor down KK. Miles made: 92.55. Avg speed: 3.9 Kts. Total time: 24h08m. Soon after we rounded the tip, the wind turned fair and brisk. However, it didn’t last long and we were back to motoring in contrary light wind and waves. We also experienced a contrary current of 1-2 kts. This continued for the remainder of the passage. But we plodded along with motor and main sail pushing us along off the nearby coast. The air temp was nice and once in a while some rain would come through and give us a nice boat wash. We also had the bonus of a full moon. So, all in all, it was a good passage.
We are anchored behind reefs off of a fancy resort. Water is clear which should make for nice swimming. We’ve heard that for a reasonable fee, we can access the resorts facilities and shuttle bus to town. The town is bit with lots of hustle and bustle and we’re looking forward to exploring it.
