Rye to Chichester

August 23, 2009

Back in the familiar waters of the South Coast, we travel West towards the Solent.  En Route we stop briefly at Eastbourne and Brighton.. we watch from a distance the air display off Shoreham and I managed to get a TV signal offshore and watched the Grand Prix, whilst Chris handled the boat.

Back at East Head we anchored in one of our favourite spots and fired up the barbie!

I’m planning a trip in the other direction – going from Chichester round the coast of Sussex and Kent to Ramsgate and beyond to Chatham Maritime Marina.

Where did you stay in Rye?

Hi Colin. We stayed at Strand Quay in the centre of Rye. This dries completely and would not advise attempting if you draw more than 1.5 as we found the channel shallower than it should have been in theory! Harbourmaster is very helpful, suggest you phone him if you are unsure. If you can get to Strand Quay, it is well worth it especially if you have never been to Rye before, power and water on the quay. You may be able to stay on the Harbourmasters pontoon, though this is very exposed, and a long way from town. Good sailing
