Chioggia to Porto Lignano

August 12, 2008

Marina fees here are E85 for one night.  It is a bit much for our budget, so we anchor out in the canal.  This is our first overnight anchorage.

Venice to Chioggia

August 11, 2008

We finally locate a copy of the Adriatic Pilot Book in wonderful shop in Venice called Carte de Mare (Sea of Paper).

We lose our chartplotter as we leave Vento di Venezia and need to negotiate the canals to the Lido for fuel and then to exit the Laguna.  It says “No Fix” and we are not happy.

We make it out through the main entrance into open water and head south for Chioggia to meet with the Simrad Agent who is going to sort out our new DSCVHF which we have inherited with the boat.  We have no manual for it so are a bit in the dark on the peculiarities of it.

We negotiate the fish farms en route with some trepidation.

Izola to Venice

August 07, 2008

We pull into Vento Venezia Yacht Club and cram into a really slim space.  Not bad for our first berthing Med style.

Farewell Izola

August 07, 2008

We have purchased our boat here and spent several weeks up on the ‘hard’ completing our refit.  We depart for Venice on our maiden voyage, with Lizzie and Ross on board.  We will return to Izola to collect our new sails in approximately a week.
