Washington to Hawaii then...Samoa

December 07, 2008

Refitting and prepping for a May 2009 crossing to Hawaii then south toward the Line Islands and Samoa. Most of the 2009 season after the 40+ day passage will be spent in the Figi, Tonga island groups…then off to New Caledonia for a season rest.

The refit includes some sail upgrades by Axel and Frank of Shattauer Sails in Seattle. As well as some minor rigging additions and electrical modifications. Currently we have a crew of 2 but hope to add one additional crew member per leg…one to Hawaii and then one from Hawaii to Samoa.

The boat is a 40’ Cape George Cutter named Mist. Mist completed a 7 year circumnavigation in 2007 with its first owners to include Cape Horn, Europe, New Zealand, India and Thailand.

We look forward to any valuable and experienced ‘input’ regarding this season’s up coming passage…
