Give me a call about driving your car back. I’m running out of time when I can hook up with my golfing buddy.

Great to catch up. Envy you both. Made it to Cuba with Robbie and Chitra and we’re sure we saw your boat a couple of times. Joan and I made it to Norman’s Cay and stayed in the funky painted cabins beside the landing strip. Eric Avaizian’s wedding coming up April 10 so will see the gang in Chicago – have opening day tickets for Wrigley field. 38 day Africa trip booked for Sept 18 so have put Australia on hold.
Here’s hoping for red sunsets. – Willy & Joan

Valentine’s Day here in St. John’s, 2010.
Good to hear you are alive and well. I was a bit worried, but should know by now that nothing stops the two of you. We could do with your sunny climate but aren’t complaining – we are having a mild and kind winter here on the rock. Makes it possible to do long hikes along the coast. Spent a couple of weeks in TO. Did lots – opera, theatre, shopping, eating, visiting. Will go to Sweden later, but don’t know when. Have a great time in the sun!

heard from Eva that you are waiting on spare parts some where in Florida. What news? When do you anticipate sailing to the Bahamas?

Hi Don and Maj-Lis,
Great to hear that you’ve made your destination. The water and snorkeling sounds wonderful. I’m very jealous. It just keeps snowing here. We took a break though. Just returned from Las Vegas. Had great weather. A whole different world there. Visited Lake Mead, and checked out the marina there. A beautiful and unique lake, surrounded by desert and mountains. We hope to return there for some camping and kayaking in the not too distant future.
Enjoy the sun, sea and swimming.
Happy New Year

I am following your adventures enviously. The last time we were in Lake Sylvia and small boat probably around 30 feet arrived with two adults and their two young children. We discovered this was their second trip to the Caribbean. They entered the lake using a knotted line to determine the depth and had very little below space for four people but they were having the time of their life as I am sure you are.
Enjoy what is going to be a wonderful 2009 for both of you.

Hi Guys. So glad to hear that you’re finally warm. If you miss the snow for Christmas as the Helsbys are follow the suggestion I gave them. Three buckets of shaved ice..take turns stepping into two and pull the third up over your heads for a moment or two. Have a great Merry Christmas and a “warm” New Year Rollie @ BPYC below ZERO.

Hello and Merry Christmas!!!!!
We, Elias and I, are happy to hear you are out of the cold spell. Just thought I let you know that it’s snowy and chilly here on the coast of Eastern Newfoundland. And worse in TO. But I guess, we are masochist now around Xmas and enjoy a little white, whatever the cost!! By now you are probably on the other side, meaning among the Bahamian Islands. Feel like flying down to join for a little glögg, but instead we are heading for TO on Jan1, for some medical affairs. We’ll stay a week and will do the city while attending to duties of other kind. We’ll have xmas with the kids here in town. Will be lovely. Enjoy yourselves in your shirtsleeves or are you down to nothing now???

Hi guys,
It’s thrilling to read the blog. I’m not sure who the writer is , but a tip here, do a thing for the Globes Travel section, your writing is superb. I feel I’m right there with you. I said to Elias we’ve got to get out and be more daring. He got a kick out of the black cop driving you around – that’s true diplomacy. Like you we’ve always been so fond of the people below the 41st. So take care, hope the weather improves, by now it probably already has.

Hi Don and Maj-Lis,
Fascinating reading. Really enjoyed your description of the passage by the Dismal Swamp. A great piece of writing. Last night, we had our first big snowfall of the season in Toronto. Does it come earlier every year?
I think we’ll go x-country skiing. If we can’t get south like you guys, we might as well try to enjoy what we have here.
Hope you hit warm weather real soon.

Hi Maj-Lis and Don
Your boat has left the slip, so I guess it means you’re actually on your way to the Bahamas. Barbara and I are looking forward to read your blog, since we plane to do the same voyage in a couple of years
From all of us at BPYC have a great trip and bon voyage.
Fair winds,

Hi Maj-Lis and Don,
I am going to follow your journey and hopefully learn something from your experiences. I am a sailor without a boat, but I aspire to have one in 3-5 yrs. I have a young family , 1under 4 and 1@10 months. So introducing sailing to my wife and kids will be a slow one. Want kids to be able to ‘walk’ on board(lashed of course).
So I wish you all the best and hope your adventure becomes more than you could wish for as each watch passes.
