May 01, 2009: Our sojourn in Newcastle ended Thursday 11th, when Sea Eagle was again fit to go to sea.Insurance sorting took time, finally resolved by assessor Michael, who came and saw and questioned and assessed and adjudicated, for part value of the wind generator, radar and wind instrument.A new wind generator was installed with the help of electrical engineer Kevin, but the temporarily-repaired wind tra... » read more

Perfect one day . . . . . Brisbane to Fraser island
July 15, 2009: As strong winds were forecast that afternoon 25-30kn and to continue for 3 days (we had listened to the latest VHF forecasts in the morning) we thought it best to head over to Urangan and get a spot in the marina. We pulled anchor around 9:00 and headed off thinking there was no hurry. We had sailed up Fraser island though further than we thought and it took a while to get back to Moon pt i... » read more

Early May 2011 from Scarborough Marina in Brisbane we plan to head towards Cairns, stopping off at the Whitsundays and various other islands en route.
August 01, 2011: From Montes Resort we headed into Bowen for three nights to catch up on washing and water and watch SA get thrashed by NZ in the pub. Bowen was used for many of the scenes in the movie ‘Australia’, and is characterized by wide virtually treeless streets and a long wharf. From Bowen we sailed to Cape Upstart, where we spent the first night anchored right at the bottom of the bay with... » read more

May 01, 2009: There is another beach just around the corner “Yarrabah” and we decide to head there for a look. Very disappointing after Turtle Bay. We had to anchor a long way out, there was a lot of mud and not much going for it. So after a brief explore we up anchored and headed to Yorkey’s Knob and the Bluewater Marina which will be our home for the next couple of months. I suppose... » read more

We leave Wednesday, weather permitting. First destination will be Pancake Creek.
May 01, 2009: We left Bundy for Pancake Creek at 4.30 am on Wednesday 11 June with 63nm to cover. We had a southerly 10 kn breeze and slight SE swell. In the afternoon the wind changed to SSE and 15 kn and the swell increased to 1.5 to 2 metres which wasn’t pleasant. When we used the engine it ran unevenly as if there was air in the system and we expected it to die any minute. We... » read more
