/07/09 Arrived with slt to mod Westerly swell (mod/rough for mr wiggley!!)
Had been tipped off that free berths were sometimes available along the northern breakwater along the length of the canal and quickly nabbed the last space. There is obvciously no water, electrics etc and the pier is a hive of activity day or night with fisherman + italian busy bodies. But most importantly there are limited secure points to tie to!!
/07/09 Bad weather forecast so investigated the town, was not too impressed to start with but tge more you go the more you like it, huge beach if you can get on it through the deck chairs + speedo’s. Swell had picked upto over 2m. and was wrapping around the breakwater, very uncompfortable night, numerous boats snapping lines.
/07/09 Swell picked up + westerly force 8. Stayed up all night (Kate slept like a baby) due to parting lines, funny noises + jerky movements, had to steal rope + use anchor chain to keep Mr Wiggley attached to the earth. Could not take any more so we battened the hatches + got the train to Pisa.
/07/09 No sleep again, fed up, still weather bound, shifted ship temporarily to marina berth to fill up with fresh water + give the vessel a full scrub down before day light or at least before the capitanarie caught us, the perfect crime!! got the train to Florence
/07/09 Wind dropped, but swell still bad, day off!
