June 19, 2008: DAY ONE: With all my excitement, I board my boat, give the engine a pull, start her up, warm her up, untie my lines and enjoy the gentle breeze and current pushing me along, through the lagoon, that I am docked in. As I approach this beautiful, brand new white 38 foot something or other, I "pop" the motor into FORWARD gear and…nothing!..that’s right NOTHING ! The 38 ft som... » read more

An end of the season overnight.
May 23, 2008: For an end of the season cruise, we sailed to Atlantic Highlands YC. We came into the harbor and got a great mooring (for free because of reciprocity). A lot of boats came in after us and had to take moorings far out in the harbor…we definitely got lucky! We took the dinghy in for dinner. We went to the yacht club for a couple of cocktails and then went to the harbor side grill. Afte... » read more

Planning for a three day three night trip up to Yorktown and back.
May 23, 2008: Salt Ponds is a great little harbour. The only problem is that it’s full of Marinas and private docks. There are only a couple of good places to anchor, but luckily we were the only ones looking to ride the anchor tonight. » read more

11-12APR2008 - Trip from NOB Marina to Smithfield, VA and back. This is the first weekend sailing trip for us as a family.
May 23, 2008: Cast off the lines and got underway… at promptly 1115. We didn’t get to the boat until about 0930, but then we realized that we forgot the salad and chili that Laura had slaved over the night before, so we sent her back home to get it. In the mean time, we got our propane tank filled-up and the galley sink unclogged. Barnacles had grown over the thru-hull fitting. » read more

May 23, 2008: We departed from Keyport Yacht Club. After a long afternoon of loading up the boat we had a beautiful night of sailing up to Liberty Landing Marina. We tied up to the gas dock and tried to find some one to get a slip. Apparently no one was there…even security. We spend the night at the gas dock. » read more
