August 11, 2008: Weeee, here we go…............next week we pick up our new boat to sail back to Norfolk, VA. 2 women, one can navigate and one can sail. Together we make a whole sailor. This trip is part of the yearly Edgewood Yacht Club (which we are members of) Cruise and the part that Sole Mates III is participating in, this year.
August 06, 2008: At 4:30 a.m. the alarm on the cell phone rang and we were off by 5:30. Breakfast, brushing and general beautification rituals were quickly accomplished as we were facing a trip of approximately 46 nm and a race that was moving west beginning about 9:00 a.m. We hit it perfectly and the boat was logged at 8.3 knots at one point. July 26, 2008: Left Bristol Harbor at 6:30 AM. Wind averaged between 18-20 kts. from the South. We motored down the Sakonnet River as the wind was dead on. Seas 2 to 5 feet off shore, so sailed with the Jib only from the entrance of the river to Cleveland Ledge. We maintained an average speed of 5 to 6+ kts.
