18.08.2011: 7/16We’ve gotten the provisional race results and the answer is Dawn Star has one her division! After sailing 3000 nautical miles, spread far between a northern route and a southern route; a mere 53 minutes was the difference between victory and the runner up. Looking back, we could have made or lost that time in countless places during the nineteen day battle against the elements and o... » Mehr...

July 29, 2010: The sail from Delaware City to the Sasafras River was pretty much uneventful, except for the fact that we grounded ourselves once and ran into the dock at the Skipjack Cove Yachting Resort. It is a good thing the bottom is sandy. During the course of our docking our dinghy briddle got caught in our motor propeller. As I got into the dinghy and prepared to un ... » read more

June 29, 2010: The race is scored using two different scoring systems. The difference is in how the boats are compared with one another, which determines the “corrected time” which is used to level the playing field between all the different boats. Each system has it’s pros and cons, so we’re scored under each and there are prizes for each scoring method.Using the IRC system, we ... » read more

May 01, 2009: At 4:30 a.m. the alarm on the cell phone rang and we were off by 5:30. Breakfast, brushing and general beautification rituals were quickly accomplished as we were facing a trip of approximately 46 nm and a race that was moving west beginning about 9:00 a.m. We hit it perfectly and the boat was logged at 8.3 knots at one point. The race made up in part for the lack of wind.&nbs... » read more
