Sandra loves to shop in Scituate, so you know where we went after arrival… The day was sunny with very light winds out of the south-south west.  No whales, seals or sharks…This is Wendy’s Dream’s home port so the fleet will be down to one tomorrow. July 25, 2011: We docked at the Royal Yacht Squadron on the Isle of Wight, too late for the Regatta Reception, but just in time to get to The Union Pub for dinner.  The owner kindly kept the kitchen open just for our crew when he found out that we’d just crossed the Atlantic Ocean to get to his pub.  Needless to say, dinner was accompanied by endless pints of English Bitter beer, cider, and ot... » read more

Season 2 of Lana's Adventures

Season 2 of Lana's Adventures

This year, the plan is to sail to Baltimore and then finally arrive in Bradenton, Fl.

July 29, 2010:  The sail from Delaware City to the Sasafras River was pretty much uneventful, except for the fact that we grounded ourselves once and ran into the dock  at the Skipjack Cove Yachting Resort.  It is a good thing the  bottom is sandy.  During the course of our docking our dinghy briddle got caught in our motor propeller.  As I got into the dinghy and prepared to un ... » read more

Newport-Bermuda Race 2010

Newport-Bermuda Race 2010

The crew of High Noon race from Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda in the Atlantic ocean classic affectionately known as the "Bash to the Onion Patch".

June 29, 2010: The race is scored using two different scoring systems. The difference is in how the boats are compared with one another, which determines the “corrected time” which is used to level the playing field between all the different boats.  Each system has it’s pros and cons, so we’re scored under each and there are prizes for each scoring method.Using the IRC system, we ... » read more

Just a Dream

Just a Dream

no trip yet

October 16, 2010: I saw the Citation today, it is very good shape and , if winter was not coming, you could sail it away. Except the merrimac river has a four knot current where the boat is, that is without the 20 knot wind today. It is worth a survey and an offer, asking price is 19,900. I would be responsible for transporting, over land to Boston and winter storage. I will research that tomorrow, than ... » read more

July 07, 2010: Day 3 started early with an equipment malfunction. The most important peice of equipment failed! The coffee maker. We made due, but boiling some water and pouring it though a paper towel. mmmm good coffee. I hailed the pump out boat with no response. I hailed old port on the radio to ask when the pump out service starts, Tango was awake an on duty. Sarcasm at the ready. He said to call on ... » read more

Sailing south on gale force winds

Sailing south on gale force winds

Two adventures sailing by the seat of their pants to Bradenton, Florida. Sailed 19 nm so far.

November 11, 2009: Today we took Lana to Casey’s Marina to be brought ashore for the winter. This morning we rowed out to her on glass smooth water, a very rare sight to us. The rowing was some-what surreal, The ripples from the oars were the only disturbance on the water. After reaching Lana we cleared the deck and stowed everything below & emptied the water tank. Then we ... » read more
