Anchoring out of Marina Taina was our favorite in the Papeete area. Had great views of Moorea and close enough to town and shopping, as well as fuel and boat supplies. Lot of cruisers arriving and resupplying here from Tuamotus and Marquesas before touring other Society Islands such as Raititea, Moorea, Bora. Bora.
Also small Marina located between Tahiti Iti and Tahtit Nui called Taravau. There is a small haul out facility there and is the only hurricane hole on Tahiti. We left our boat here for 9 months in 2007. We were very happy with our experience while there – although it is a low key place without modern haul out lifts. If you want a modern haul out lift – go to the Island of Raiatea.
