About Me

I got bitten by the sailing bug late in life – started off in my 30’s on a 14ft Dinghy, sailing on an inland lake in South Africa, then moved down to Durban and converted to Keelboats: first a 24ft, then upgraded to a 40ft Bruce Roberts, then to a 53ft Bruce Roberts Ketch, to which I added a 3ft swimming platform. Been sailing now for more than 30 years, and still love it! Have a RYA equivalent SA Yachtmaster Offshore certification.

Sailing Experience

Biggest adventure I’ve ever tackled was the Cape to Rio Yacht Race in 2000 on the Bruce Roberts Ketch, and then up the Brazilian coast to the Caribbean, where I worked a few years as a Charter Captain on 45 to 52ft Catamarans, covering the Leeward, Windward and Virgin Islands.

Good luck Papsie!! I wish with my whole heart I could do the sail with you! This is added incentive to start working for myself, so that my time is my own.
I’ll follow you every step of the way, so keep this updated :-)
