About Me
I’ve been sailing on and off since 1972 but really only got into it when I spent 3 years in Dubai (1980-1983) with a very slow Laser, slow when I was driving it anyway.
Migrated to cruisers in 1991 (water in UK cold ,especially in a dinghy), but have done most of my sailing in the Mediteranean anyway.
Still don’t have my own boat, it is cheaper to hire someone else’s for the amount of time off I have, or to just go out with other people on theirs (anyone looking for crew?)
I passed my UK MCA/RYA Coastal Skipper exam in 2007.

Sailing Experience
I’m only a coastal sailor, no ocean experience as yet.
So far I have 252 days at sea, and 5166 miles logged on yachts (about 50/50 tidal and Mediteranean) with 140 days “in command”.
My longest trip yet is 850 miles from Inverness to Gosport, via the Caledonian Canal.
Longest passage is 235 miles, Milford Haven to Brixham which took us 36 hours.

Thanks for the reference to winlink.org I hadn’t come across it before. Looks like a very useful service for those who wander as far as you do. Martin

I must admit that I tend to limit my sailing trips to warm weather. I am always intrested in sailing locations that I haven’t (or even may never) got to, as you can learn so much from others and then avoid problems or note things to visit if you do ever go there.Martin, London (UK)

Just a little suggestion: You have the “Reverse Blog Order” box checked in the Blog Settings on this blog, so it starts with Day1.This means that all your followers have to page down to get to the latest entry. If you switched this off the latest entry would appear first. You can always switch it back to journal mode when you complete the trip.Martin

We booked because of the 10 for 7 deal. Something they do every June through Oct I believe.
