On our Way
April 01, 2008
We left last Saturday and travelled to Bribie Island again. Back at Bongaree for the second time in less than a week. At least the systems on our boat are working as they should. We caught up with some friends and had a graet meal at the Blue Anchorage Restaurant. Said all our goodbyes and they headed their boats back to Redcliffe and work and we headad north up Pumicestone passage in search of adventure. We spent the first night at Gallaghers beach, it was very calm and we had a peacefull sleep. From there as we cruised further up the passage the water became shallower and shallower. We had to stop a couple of times to let the tide rise slightly and spent a fair bit of time in the RIB with a lead line sounding for deep enough water. Lucky we only draw about .6 of a meter. We got just past "The Skids" and had to anchor again for the night. This morning we were up early to catch the top of the tide and still found ourselves in very shallow water. We took it slow and eventually anchored off Caloundra. We intend to try to cross the bar tomorrow morning if weather permits and make for Noosa Heads. It will be good to be back at sea again and not have to worry about the depth.
