Corfu and Paxos, May 2008

Up the West of Paxos

May 15, 2008

Tonight’s destination is Lakka on the norther tip of Paxos and Thira takes to the open Adriatic in search of some decent wind and slips through between Paxon and Anti Paxos before starting to beat northwest against the breeze which is. of course right on the nose!

As we pass Emerald Bay we are amazed to see a small cruise ship lying off the bay.

Then its out through the channel and hopefully out of the lee of the island.

Eventually we get some wind and the tacking begins.

Out into the open water on starboard and then tack onto port and close the coast again.

There seems to be a Neilson flotilla coming south, you can’t miss that garish orange logo that they seem to use everywhere, and there is even one boat coming south with a bright orange cruising chute with the logo emblasoned on it.

For some reason they are towing someone in their dinghy on a very long line, I can only imagine that they wanted to get a photo of their boat with the chute up and needed to get a bit of distance for the camera to show the best shot.
