Following two days of hectic shopping and driving through Sydney traffic, the day had come to finally set eyes on Camelot. We were all up before 7am and down at Birkenhead by 8am. We hi the supermarket, the butchers, fruit and vegies shop and grog shop for last minute supplies and then started the job of loading everything on board.
With the loading and unpacking well underway, we then started to go over the Handover Checklist with Graeme, Seawind’s Operations Manager. Things were going well until we tried to start the Generator. Wouldn’t start – tried everything. Adrian, Brad (who came down from Port Stephens overnight to have a look) and Graeme all got together and eventually worked out the fuel pump was blowing air as it was connected back to front. It had worked with a full tank of diesel but with the trip up from Wollongong the tank had emptied a little and hence it was sucking air. With that fixed, Graeme left and we waited for Royce to get to Birkenhead from Brisbane where he’d just finished dropping off a Seawind 1000. Royce finally made it and we disconnected from the dock just after 8pm and after a quick couple of 360s to callabrate Eric the AutoPilot we headed under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House and out of the Heads.
