Action in Annapoli$

October 17, 2008

We have been in Annaplois for a week. We have seen the boat show, had three battens placed in the working jib, and made a few more fixes to the boat. Finally, I can use the keyboard (needed to make a connection with a voltage regulator to the house battery) -  if I could just get some time.

We plan to leave on Saturday for Saint Michael on the eastern shore, then work our way south. The Chesapeake could keep us occupied for at least a few months. Lots of little places to anchor and everywhere is full of history.

Communication continues to be a problem. Sailmail is reliable and we expect to get e-mail most nights. Please send e-mail to

VO7893@sailmail.com

Wifi has been marginal, at best, unless we are in an internet cafe or library – not so common. Sailmail appears to add text to an e-mail when we update this blog from the boat.

I checked in with the "waterway net" this morning and was relayed to Greg. My grasp of ham talk needs some work.

We have has amazing weather so far. It is still summer and little wind. It may now change.

The experience is still a little magical and we feel so fortunate to be here so far.

Hi Don and Maj-Lis
Sounds as though you are making great time and having a great time. Look for WIND of PEACE (Ellie and David) Annapolis is home port and they did the Bahamas run last yr. We loved St. Michaels. Paul says the museum is great and for me the laundry was good too. Skipjacks are elegant. How about those lighthouses?? There is a good place to buy crab already steamed on the main street (Big Al’s) for a moonlit picnic in the cockpit. They do load on the Old Bay though…you could ask for a little less than the usual. We are leaving for Canaveral on the 29th and planning to stop in at Charleston to see friends on the ICW enroute. Have fun.
Cheers!
Deb and Paul
