Preparation
Day 4 - rest day in Fernandino Bc
July 15, 2008
During the day we had almost no wind, and had to motor-sail all day. During the night we picked up another Tropical storm around 10pm, with winds up to about 20 knots, and made up some time – sailing along at about 10 knots for about 3-4 hours, Then the wind died again, and we had to switch on the motor again all the way to Fernandino Beach.
We arrived safely at around 7am in the St. Mary’s Canal entrance into Fernandino Beach, and took about 3 hours to get to the Fernandino Beach Marina, which is on the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway). It is a beautiful little town on Amelia Island, and we used the opportunity to immediately have a hot shower, then visited the famous Palace Saloon, had a few beers, stocked up providsions and fuel, did laundry and had a great dinner – we will sleep well tonight!
Tomorrow we plan to head north up the ICW and decide what to do later – it seems the days are calm, so we are better offf motoring and seeing the ICW, and at night we can head out to sea and get some wind.

Now that I’ve seen pics I’m even more green from the fact that I can’t be there!
