Sole Mates III sails to Maine
Day Two Onset to Scituate
July 10, 2008
Something new happens each day, today, about 2 1/2 miles off shore (Plymouth) we were swarmed by small bees, bitting flies, and small ants… Must have been mating season but as we killed them they left red stains on us or the boat.. Then just as quick as they came, they left as we approached Scituate.
The Canal current changed to the East at 9:51 and we were on the canal at 10:30 the boat did 9.3 Knots. As we exited the canal and turned northward, the wind was from the northwest 10 -15. Great sailing for a few hours and then around 1:00 the wind changed and decreased.
Today we thought of our daughter who was born on July 10th. Sandy tried to decide if she would rather be delivering an 8.8 pound baby or sailing like the wind??? We did not call as she is leaving for Thailand and did not want to run up her cell phone bill.
Todays photos seem to be added to the Album. They cover starting out in the canal to sailing North and checking the charts ( I should have done that according to the Map on this site..No Brent I did not take the boat across Rt 495, we really did do RI Sound and Buzzard Bay.) heading into Scituate , our mooring and the sunset.
