East (coast) to West (country)
West country here we come....
July 24, 2008
After spending a couple of days in Plymouth, mostly doing maintenance, it’s time to move on.
Left the harbour around 11:00 and entered moderate seas with waves up to 2 metres high. She handled them very well. We sailed most of the way which was brilliant. Unfortunately we weren’t that close to shore so the photos of the coast line do not it justice.
Coming into Fowey was pretty tricky with the wind picking up and with the swell. Gen overshot where he wanted to enter so we had to go into the waves for a while. There was one in particular wave that very nearly saw me packing in this sailing thing. I swear we healed over 45 degrees – not pleasant, but she righted herself nicely.
Picked up a lovely swinging mooring in between Fowey and Polruan.
We had a visitor for a few hours – this seal kept bobbing up for air around 3 metres from the boat – fab!
