Smooth seas

September 14, 2008

When we were approaching the Solent, the seas were so smooth, definitely different from when we went through last time.  Stopped off in Yarmouth for the night – a lovely town.

Wanted to explore a couple of the creeks on the Isle – pottered around Newtown which was just so pretty.  The sticks sticking out in the water are the remains of the sea wall dating back centuries.

Note in the photo’s – the german shepherd has a bouyancy aid on.

Bouyancy aids for dogs are not that unusual, in fact I would recommend that anyone with a dog on board uses one, for the same reason as your lifejacket has to have a lifting loop. Getting out of a “dog overboard ” situation is a lot easier when you have something to get a line onto. Far easier with a Jack Russell than a German Shepherd though, with a small dog you gan recover them with a boathook!
