We had an excellent meal at the River Room. Georgetown is a wonderful historic town, and we enjoyed strolling along Front St. and the Harbour Walk. After dinner I worked on my blog and watched ER, while Bill climbed into the V-berth to delve into Stuart Woods’ latest novel. I’m reading John Grisham’s The Appeal , but haven’t made much progress because my eyelids droop after a couple of pages.

This morning we woke fairly early and enjoyed breakfast at the Thomas Café before setting off for what we thought would be a short day on the water, only 20 miles. However, we didn’t know we’d be fighting the current all day long-1.5 knots to 2 knots. Our trip meter sail 28 miles but we only went 20-taking 4 ½ hours. The passage was one of the most beautiful we’ve seen, though. The Wacamaw River is wide, lined with cedar trees and abandoned rice plantations. One couldn’t ask for a more scenic trip-very sparse development, so we could enjoy the passing landscape.

I took the opportunity to do my exercises, Amanda, in case you’re reading. Even Bill said – Hey, those are some heavy-duty exercises. Anyway, I’m trying, and hopefully, there will be results one day.

We are anchored in pristine Bull Creek where we caught up with Sea Bird who was already anchored – a single-handed sailor who had passed under the Ben Sawyer bridge with us in Charleston and whom we’d seen at the fuel dock in Georgetown. He’d told us about this anchorage as a great one.

We had the anchor set by 2:30. I spent an hour or so cleaning the interior of the boat which I had actually neglected to do before we left. I guess I assumed someone else had taken care of that chore, but we all know what happens when one assumes something. We passed the afternoon with Bill fishing and me working on sweet Baby James’ blanket. Now Bill is in the galley making a spinach salad, and I’ll cook dinner after he’s through. We’ll head for North Myrtle Beach tomorrow, where we’ll stay at Cricket Cove Marina for Sat. and probably Sun., to ride out inclement weather.
