Parry's Sail To the Baltic

Anholt day 2

May 24, 2008

Next day (Sat) was warmer than ever (sorry UK!!) and we went for a walk round the island. At midday a siren went, sounding across the island  – was it an emergancy, was it world war 3?  No, we we told by a Danish family walking on the same path that it signalled that work had finished for the weekend and the shop had closed!!   We continued along the  lovely raised heath area with excellent views of the island and then by a miracle at lunchtime Parry smelled beer and found a small path leading down to the only cafe/bar open on the island.  Danish meatballs and potato salad with a couple of Tuborgs never tasted so good.

Finally we found the beach and our way back to the harbour for a final sunbathe. Hollie payed with two Danish girls who had lived in Windsor for two years and spoke perfect English.  They went to school on the Island with a total of 20 children in the school, each girl ( 8 and 10) was in a class of 2!!

Thought we would go out on the town in the evening but unfortunately the impromptu gigs by well known rock bands in the local cafe do not happen at this time of year so we had the last of the langoustines prepared for dinner on Suzie Too.

A special place to rival any we have found before sailing but have to move on tomorrow to Helsingborg (Sweden) where Hollie will meet up with her oldest friend from Northants – Lizzie..
