Parry's Sail To the Baltic

Samso Island

May 19, 2008

Spent the morning on Hjarno Island, we caught the local ferry across there with our bikes.  Spent the morning on the island, looked at the Church, the 2nd smallest in Denmark and then walked along the Lagune and the wildlife!

Then went to the Viking burial ground area dating back to 600-1000AD. They cremated the dead and then built in stones ship shaped burial grounds. There were 2 or 3 intact ones here. Then stopped off for lunch at the only cafe on the island and had to sit inside because it started to rain!!!  Not seen rain for weeks!

Got the 1.20pm ferry back to Snaptun and then sailed off towards Samso Island where David and Suzanne had ended up….....with lots of black clouds hovering over the island and coming straight for us!  The wind went from 2 knots to 29 knots in seconds, luckily Steve had just taken the main in commenting I didn’t really like the look of that cloud!

Arrived in Samso and moored up on an alongside (brand new too!) pontoon infront of Suzie Too.  Dinner was followed by episode 11 of Howards Way…2 to go!!!
