Parry's Sail To the Baltic

Flensburg to Sonderborg - We make Denmark!!

May 11, 2008

I got back from the UK at midnight on Friday night, the flight into Hamburg followed by the bus and taxi were all very efficient!  We decided to spend Saturday night in Flensburg before moving onto Denmark.

We left Flensburg at 1115, had another warm and sunny day and sailed towards Sonderborg in Denmark.  It was a great sail up the Fjord, lots of that ticky tacky stuff (and of course a race or two with any boat in the vicinity!) We are getting used to sailing in very little water now.

We berthed up next to the town quay in Sonderborg at 4.30pm in the sun next to a Walls Ice Cream Sailing boat…..with the medieval castle on our right.  Wandered around the town to get our bearings and some Danish Kroner for the first time!  and then stopped off on the quay front for a drink.

In the evening we wandered along the beach, dipping our toes in the water and then had a game of frizbee in the castle grounds.
