Parry's Sail To the Baltic

We Made It To The BALTIC!!!

May 04, 2008

After a leisurely morning we left Rendsberg and headed east to Kiel along the canal. We finally eerged into the crystal clear Baltic waters late afternoon and headed for the British Kiel Yacht Club (of course!!).  We successfully moored in our first box mooring in a cross wind and have to start to get usd to climing off the front of the boat.  The BKYC is owned by the British Army as a sail raing centre for the forces.  Ten identical immaculate Halberg Rassy 34’s were moored up for traing (about £2m worth – so thats where our taxes go).

A very nice spot so tried out the bar when it opened at 7 and enjoyed a few glasses of beer at cheap army prices.

So after about 3 1/2 weeks we have finally made it.  Pretty good going with kind weather, some good sailing and an excellent trip through Holland.   It has been great to be in the comany of the Chappells on Suzie Too and Hollie has been brilliant and has enjoyed it all.  She is getting on well with her school work and is learning lots of other stuff.

We have a lot of miles to go but after Di goes on a short work trip to the UK at the end of the week we will leave Germany an head off to explore Denmark.
