Parry's Sail To the Baltic

Hindeloopen to Harlingen

April 29, 2008

Sunday 29th was David and Suzanne’s Wedding Anniversary so a couple of pressies and cards and then a nice lunch in the harbour cafe before departing for Harlingen.

We finally left the inland waters of Holland through the final lock into the tidal waters of the North Sea to catch the last of the flood up the tidal channel to Harlingen.  Had forgotten all about tides in Holland, fixed pontoons and no wobbly stuff.

Made it through a couple of lifting bridges into the outer harbour.  Not particularly salubrious but did he job.

We stayed and rested for a couple of nights before our big push accross the North of Holland and Germany to the Keil canal.  1st of May was another public hoiday for Queen Juliana’s birthday (we need to be a bit more European about our public holiday’s they get far more tha we do!!).

Street parties and activties everywhere in the town and orange everywhere. A great atmosphere.
