Slipped the lines at 10am and set out of the big smoke into the Markermeer via a bridge and the Orangsluis.  Had a great sail SW 12kts towards Marken which was an island until somebody built a dam to it in 1957 to stop it from flooding! The locals lived in houses built on man made hills (well mounds but hills in Holland!). Moored up at 2pm at the town quay and then had a team trip of cycling around the whole island! Great way to see a place quick, the folding bikes are a must have item!

Decided to stay put here for the night when we saw huge black clouds heading our way at 4pm…Plan B Monnickendam tomorrow morning!!
