Tulips in Hamster Jam

We made it into Amsterdam ahead of schedule!! Moored up at the Sixhaven Marina across the river from the Central Station and so very close to the city centre but without the city hassle! The marina entrance was a bit tight, why don’t any of the guide books mention it??!!
Wandered into town that evening to get our bearings! Decided that today would be a good day to celebrate having Cathie and Helen as great crew and so I nipped into Waterstones and had a quick look at the good food guide to Indonesian restaurants…found a great one by the flower market and so we rendezvous with Suzie Too and had a great meal!
Tuesday was then spent doing the tripper stuff! We did the canal bus to The Van Gogh museum…..excellent as always! love the sunflowers and the crows in the meadow piccys! Then met Suzie Too for afternoon tea at The Pulitzer where I usually stay when working with Unilever so it was nice to be there out of uniform! We finished off with Anne Franks house which was very emotional (still not quite finished the book yet!). It was then just a few farewell drinks with the crew Cathie and Helen who had to be up in the early hours of Wednesday to do the cheesyjet flight home to blighty.
Wednesday was wierd, the boat seemed somewhat empty! We still had museums to do….Hollie was desparate to see the Night Watch and so off we went to the Rijkmuseum. Again great place…so different from the van gogh museum.
Got back and prepared the boat for moving on…its been the longest stay in one place….....getting itchy feet….......!!
