Parry's Sail To the Baltic
Veere to Zierikzee
April 14, 2008
Left Veere at 1215 in sunshine and a breeze for Zierikzee. Had a great sail with 15 knots gusting to 20 knots along the Veerse Meer with lots of tacking! It was great to have extra crew at the helm and as winch monkeys. Once through the lock we turned to port into the Oosterschelde and hit wind over tide….yuck! Still managed soup and a roll though.
In order to get to Zierikzee we had to wait for the Zeelandburg bridge to open which was supposed to be at 53 past the hour. We eventually got through at 15 past and then motored up the canal to our destination, yet another gorgeous Dutch town! Did some boat provisioning in Albert Heijn, had dinner and treated ourselves to the 1st episode of Howards Way!! How cool! NOT! Thanks to Britespark (Chris and Chris) for the DVD!
