About Me
I am Alison Stocker and with my husband, Randall, we have been cruising in our sailboat for five years. We retired from working at the University of Florida at the end of December 2007 and cast-off from Florida on June 1st, 2008, on our shake-down cruise up the eastern coast of North America.
Since then we have voyaged through the Bahamas, Jamaica, western Caribbean, Panama, Costa Rica, Galapagos Islands, Hawai’i, SE Alaska, British Columbia, and Washington State. If interested you can find blog sections about these adventures organized chronologically and by location. We are just setting-off again after a winter of refitting the boat so look for new blog entries starting in April 2013.
Our blog is primarily intended for our friends and relatives who want to find out where we are, but we welcome review and comments from anyone friendly!
Tregoning is a Cornish family name (meaning “homestead of Cohnan” or “farm by the ash trees”) and was my mother’s middle name.
Sailing Experience
I grew up in Cornwall, Great Britain, and was exposed to sailing in my youth. My older brothers probably took it more seriously than me then, but my career (in aquatic plant research) has never taken me far from the water and boats. So it was good to get a 21 ft sailboat about 15 years ago and get back into sailing.
Randall is a surfer from California and bought his first 23 ft sailboat in the early 1990’s. He had also spent a career on the water in airboats and small motor boats. In 2006, we sold our 26 ft Hunter (which was towed across the US three times) and bought our current 41 ft Morgan Classic.

Hey Allison and Randall! I hope you get this! I have lost your email! Can you send it to me again at judy.ludlow@ufl.edu I tried leaving you a message through TripSailor but the verification keeps bouncing back for now. Anyway, this blog is awesome to say the least. Hope to touch base with you soon. Judy
