Ian and Janet are originally from Durban, South Africa. We met in 2004 through our mutual friend Dennis who knew we both loved sailing. A few years later we decided to take the plunge and sail the east coast of Australia. As Janet was not keen on sailing Ian’s 31ft Muira from South Africa to Australia, the Muira was sold and replaced with Rebel, a 45ft Formosa, which we found in Pittwater just north of Sydney.

Our stay in Tasmania extended through winter of 2009 as Ian had a mitral valve replacement. This gave us the opportunity to see a fair bit of the island by car.

Hey Jan, enjoy your barbie. James took me for a 4WD drive along the loggers road in the Ourimbah State Forest. Very good fun, got some off-road 4×4 driving in. He’s smilen :)
