Jan and Michael have been sailing together for nearly a decade. Michael sailed briefly as a youngster in Eastern Washington but began more serious sailing while living on Lake Champlain in the 1980s. At that time, Jan was riding horses in California rather than waves. She still rides horses, but also finds time to race boats, both with Michael and on other boats. Touch Rain is Jan’s first sailboat, and Michael’s fifth. Jan and Michael live with their horses, dogs and cats in Olympia, Washington.
