- 2 Seasons as Crewman on a Star
- 2 Years working at a boatyard running a 35’ tugboat, operating a 60’ barge-mounted crane, running a 50’ ex-Navy mic boat, dock construction, piling installation, mooring work, hauling boats by rail and crane, etc.
- 2 Years working with a commercial salvage company as captain of a 25’ tow boat pulling boats off beaches in storms, towing disabled boats, etc.
- 1 race in a 30-foot one tonne
- Various day sails as captain or crew on boats up to 50’
